Work hard, play hard. Phil and I took that motto and ran with it after we successfully made it through two years of getting two beautiful babies past the one year mark. We hopped on a Disney Cruise ship bound for the Eastern Caribbean and left the country for some much needed adulting. Fast forward a few sun soaked days and we were on our way back from a an amazing day full of adventure exploring The Baths of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands. That’s where I met Josh + Jessica. Having been on a Disney Cruise before, I knew that we would be in one of the most picturesque private beaches in just a few days, Castaway Cay. I introduced myself to them, asked if they wanted to have their photos taken together and the rest is history. Leigh and I day dream about traveling to gorgeous locations to photograph couples in love, so documenting J+J on their honeymoon in crystal blue, Eastern Caribbean water was a dream come true. And, of course, I got to hear all about their love story as we went along 🙂
How did you propose?
Jessica always said that she always wanted her proposal to come out of the blue, and I knew very early on in our relationship that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. After over 4 years of dating we decided to move in together, and that provided the perfect opportunity to propose since I knew she would not be expecting it. After spending the entire day moving into our first apartment, I told her that I needed to go and get something from the store, and came back with roses and Champagne. I proceeded to make a toast to our first night in our new place together, and then got down on one knee, gave her my spiel and asked her to marry me. She was in such disbelief she thought I was joking lol! I couldn’t afford a ring at the time, so the roses served as the ring. She kept the roses and I made a display case for them and gave that to her on our next anniversary.
How did you know Josh was the one for you?
What were your favorite aspects of your wedding day?
The most memorable part of our wedding day (besides our vows :)), was the brunch that we went to after the ceremony. We went to a place called Boathouse at Hendry’s Beach right on the beach in Santa Barbara. It was a beautiful venue with a fantastic view of the ocean. It was a clear sunny SoCal day and everything was perfect. We enjoyed the relaxed environment and it made us even more happy that we decided to forgo a big blowout wedding.
