Life is in the journey. It’s all about the joy and love you find along the way. Reena and Derek made sure that their wedding was more than just a moment in time or a day to remember. They made sure it was an experience for everyone involved! Reena and Derek brought their guests to the Hard Rock Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico. It created the perfect backdrop for their stunning multicultural wedding and created experiences their loved ones are sure to remember for a lifetime.
Reena and Derek met through their careers. It wasn’t until they were both working in Chicago that they began their relationship. When Derek was transferred back to his home base of Atlanta, Reena soon followed. When they became engaged they knew they wanted their families to play major roles in their wedding day. What better way to bring everyone together than a destination wedding in paradise!
We were beyond excited to be a part of Reena and Derek’s wedding day. Not only was it our first international wedding, but being able to experience a different culture through such an intimate setting was life changing. Reena and Derek’s families welcomed us with open arms. We were even able to participate in the Mendhi + Pithi ceremony (we captured it on our instastory, be sure to give us a follow for more behind the scenes goodness)! Reena’s father taught us what it meant to be on “Indian standard time,” and the women who supported and prepared Reena for each ceremony on her wedding day taught us how to really go for it on the dance floor!
Our experience with Reena and Derek was one we are forever grateful for and will never forget. To the newly weds who love adventure, family and can bust a serious move when the music drops, cheers to you! Thank you for allowing us to become a part of your loving family.
*Reena and Derek celebrated with two ceremonies. The first, a traditional Hindu ceremony. The second, a traditional Christian ceremony. To learn more about Hindu wedding traditions take a peek at this super helpful website!
Reena and Derek made sure their guests felt welcomed and included the entire weekend. They were such wonderful hosts!
The traditional Mehindi ceremony was amazing. We loved being able to capture and participate in it!
The first of three wardrobe changes Reena made. Each more stunning than the last!
During the Hindu ceremony, the bride and groom do not see each other until the curtain separating them is dropped. Reena’s face expresses the absolute joy and excitement she had the moment she saw Derek!
It was so beautiful to see two cultures and two families come together in love for Reena and Derek.
Each part of the Hindu ceremony was captivating. We learned so much!
The colors, the textures, everything about their first ceremony was gorgeous! We’re glad it didn’t stop there!
In their second ceremony Reena and Derek honored family with a Christian ceremony. We love how much honor and respect went into each part of their wedding day.
The stunning bride in her 3rd dress. Her mother made each of her Sari’s and Reena used her wedding colors in her last outfit of the night!
When Reena’s brother took the mic, no one was prepared for how emotional it would be.
He shared memories of his sister born 8 years to the day after him, then ended by saying she was the best birthday gift he had ever received.
One of the better dance parties we’ve been invited to!
These women! A constant source of love and support for Reena on her wedding day. And absolute delights on the dance floor!
A happy bride. A joyful groom. And two families who are forever connected by love. We wish Derek and Reena a life full of love, travel, adventure, joy and dance parties!
